On March 13, 2018, the United Soccer League – one of the most respected professional Division II soccer leagues in North America – announced that Erwin Creates had acquired a USL Division III (USL League One) franchise to bring professional soccer to the Upstate for the league’s inaugural season in 2019. Greenville entrepreneur Joe Erwin leads the Greenville Triumph SC ownership group through Erwin Creates; Chris Lewis, former President & General Manager of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, was hired as team president and National Soccer Hall of Fame member John Harkes (shown above) serves as Head Coach and Sporting Director. The ownership group is committed to creating a first-class soccer stadium by building or renovating an existing site that will be home to the the Triumph as well as the team’s W League pre-professional women’s team, the Greenville Liberty.
